Our client recently made an incredible discovery when they removed an old, dirty carpet from their home. Beneath the layers of grime lay a stunning original Victorian tiled floor from 1890, hidden for who knows how long. While the tiles were still intact, they were covered in carpet glue, adhesive, paint, and years of accumulated dirt. The floor’s true beauty was obscured, but we were excited to take on the challenge of bringing it back to life.

Whether you own a period home or something more modern, incorporating a classical front garden path adorned with Victorian tiles can add a touch of historical elegance and charm to your home's exterior. Unsealed Victorian tiles, however, are susceptible to rapid dirt accumulation. Recently, one of our clients approached us for a thorough cleaning and the essential sealing of these exquisite Victorian black, white and blue tiles adorning their front garden. Victorian tiles require cleaning and sealing to prevent dirt and stains from accumulating on their surfaces, protect against moisture damage, enhance durability, simplify maintenance, preserve their appearance and ultimately extend their lifespan. Cleaning removes existing dirt and grime, while sealing creates a protective barrier to safeguard the tiles against wear and tear, moisture, and staining, making them easier to maintain and ensuring they continue to look their best. For our client, we initiated the restoration process by thoroughly cleaning the Victorian tiles using specialised tile and stone cleaning products. This involved employing a rotary machine and wet vacuum to ensure effective cleaning. Subsequently, we allowed the tiles to air dry. Following the cleaning process, we applied a color-enhancing impregnating sealer to the area. This sealer not only enhances the tile colors but also provides a natural matte finish, ensuring the tiles' protection and aesthetic appeal. Please take a look at the before and after photos from this project below. If you have Victorian tiles in need of restoration, whether they are located indoors or outdoors, don't hesitate to reach out to us.
