Our customer had recently bought the house and these beautiful Victorian Tiles were already installed but worn and dirty and now needed restoring back to pristine condition.Victorian Tiles are also known as encaustic tiles
, they are so fabulous for many areas in your home, making a beautiful statement tiles of a bygone era. They are tried and tested and give any home that real wow factor, so it's a no brainer to get them cleaned and sealed professionally.
Our customer took quotes from different companies but luckily for us they felt comfortable with us, so we got booked in for this victorian floor restoration.
For cleaning the Victorian
Floor we used our multi-purpose stripper formulated with a long dwell-time to remove most coatings and sealers, epoxy grout haze, urethane coatings, synthetic finishes, adhesives and paints. It also draws out ingrained stains and removes heavy grease build-up. Product got sprayed on floor and left to dwell for about 15 minutes. This was followed up by carefully scrubbing the Victorian tile floor
with scrubbing pad fitted to rotary machine. Scrubbing finished we removed all soiled water with wet vacuum and rinsed the floor.
After chemical cleaning we used our 200 grit diamond burnishing pad to remove any of the last sealer left on floor and grind off any ingrained dirt from tiles. We used some water as a lubricant and removed all soiled water from floor with wet vacuum. As always machine doesn't do all the work so we had to get on hands and knees and used our diamond hand pad to go over places where machine didn't reach.
When we were finished with victorian tiles cleaning we did an acid application to prevent any mineral salt deposits efflorescence
coming through the tile floor and then left the floor to dry till the next day.
On the return, we checked the floor with our damp tester and removed any damp with our heavy duty heat gun. All prepared, we started sealing. For sealingthe victorian tiles we used colour enhancing impregnating sealer, which is a solvent based colour intensifying sealer that provides durable surface protection as well as allowing the surface to breath and enhance colour.
This victorian floor took 3 fat coats of the sealer. After every coat we left it to dwell in for about 15 minutes and then removed any not excess sealer from tiles with soft cotton cloths.
After couple of hours we also completed a sealer tester which this floor passed in flying colours.
