On this occasion our customer in Withington, Manchester had a mould problem in her bathroom and it wasn't pleasant to use the wet room anymore. Luckily she found us from googlesearch where she clicked on our website and saw what we do for our customers. We quoted the cleaning job over emails and quickly agreed a date for work.
On arrival I quickly started cleaning the showerarea grout and ceramic tiles with our acidic grout cleaner which comes in handy when you're planning to re-colour the grout as it etches grout lines surface. I sprayed the cleaning solution on grout and tiles and left it there to dwell for about 2 minutes. This was followed up by scrubbing grout lines with our special shaped stiff grout brush and for tiles a strong black scrubbing pad was used. Cleaned area was then rinsed and neutralised from chemicals with clean water. It took us quite a few hours to deep clean the lot.
After cleaning I dried out walls with my heat gun and I was ready to move on to grout colouring.
For grout colouring I used our regular epoxy based grout colourant which rejuvenates and seals the grout. I applied 3 coats in total, it is a time consuming job but deffinitely worth it as it gives the new look to your bathroom. It gets applied with quality soft toothbrush cut to grout size.
After grout colouring it was time to remove the silicone sealant with my sharp carpet knife and window scraper, nothing beats these two in removing the silicone. It's extremely important to remove all of the old silicone from cracks, otherwise mould starts to break through again. As silicone was mouldy and didn't hold in places we had to dry out the underneath with heat gun again. All dried we applied the new mould resistant high quality silicone sealant and the job was finished.
After applying the silicone sealant, I also filled the bath with (cold) water, so it has weight in it as it is drying out, this will help reduce the effect of any movement and creating gaps.
I think it's needless to say but our customer was very happy with the work completed!
Before leaving I also gave maintenance advice to our customer and recommended to follow these guidelines:
